As a new member of the Wildwood Fitness Center, I have been working on the general fitness program that you set up for me during this past year and I have seen a significant improvement in my overall physical conditioning. But what I didn’t expect was the additional benefit that I received following a snow skiing accident over the New Year’s holiday. The accident resulted in surgery for a broken collar bone and the start of an extended physical therapy program to regain the range-of-motion, for my left arm. During this program, my therapists has repeatedly remarked how much faster my recovery has progressed due to my prior conditioning. I always knew of the benefits of exercising for one’s longevity and quality of life, but now I can also include “enhanced recovery from medical issues” to that list of benefits. Thanks Wildwood Fitness! Thanks Michelle.
What can I say about Wildwood Fitness other than I just love it?
As I was feeling the need for more exercise, an ad for WWF sent me in to explore my options. Once there I found the staff to be extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The gym itself had everything one could ask for in equipment and fitness classes and all for such a reasonable price. The members I saw there were of every age, shape, size and fitness level, dressed in whatever they chose to wear that day. I liked the casualness of that. Hanging on the wall was a picture with the caption “You Are Never Too Old to Work Out”. At 74 that struck a chord with me instantly so I decided to give it a try and have never looked back.
It has been almost a year now and I feel that I am in overall better shape than I have been in years. I have particularly amazed myself with the change in my upper body strength. I can lift and dump a wheelbarrow full of garden dirt and throw a saddle up on my horse, neither of which have I been able to do in quite a few years and I am thrilled. I have made new friends there who have kept me laughing to the point that I soon realized that working out could be a heck of a lot of fun too. What more could anyone ask for. Thank you WWF!
Back in Dec. of 2014 I weighed 268 lbs. and was in terrible shape. For Christmas my sister bought me a book written by Dr. Phil called the 20/20 Diet. I highly recommend this book. It inspired me to start on a quest to lose 73 lbs. I started on my journey Jan. 4th. of this year. I did what I could at our local YMCA. I was limited to what I was able to accomplish because of my poor condition, but kept pushing myself.
When I came to Penn Valley on the 28th of January, to escape the Indiana weather, I weighed 257lbs. Working out at the fitness center I was able to lose 15 lbs. in a little over five weeks. During this time I have been able to double the number of sets on the machines and also increased the weights several times. On the tread mill I went from level 9 at 3.4 speed on the hill climb for 30 minutes, to level 16 at a speed of 3.6.
I’m very happy with my success and would like to thank Michelle and the staff at Wildwood fitness.
You have a great facility and I appreciated the convenience of it’s location.
I joined Wildwood Fitness in October of 2014. I have been a yo-yo exerciser for much of my adult life. I’ll work out every day for a year and then not work out on a regular basis for a couple of years. Just shy of a year back at the gym, I have lost 35 pounds from exercise alone.
Working out is such a great stress release for me and so important for my overall health. Wildwood Fitness is a great place to work out! It’s a friendly small town gym which provides a comfortable environment to work out in. I plan on being a member for many years.
